NEWS
and INFORMATION |
| 09 June 2007 Congratulations to first time
Director and acclaimed writer SUZANNE TODD winning BEST FILM in the fifth round of FILMAKA
in Hollywood in June.
"HIDE AND
SEEK" written by Suzanne Todd tells the story of three children running from
their hunter during a game of hide and seek. But the game is not ordinary.
Travelling down a time warp bright hallway towards a bedroom to escape the hunter,
not even a locked door can protect them as they dive under the bed to hide. The
hunter will not be outsmarted by the hunted as chilling screams are heard from the hiding
threesome!
Suzanne Todd took the
aggressive opportunity to direct, husband and critically acclaimed feature film director
Adam Todd as cinematographer and construction of the special effects.
The film was made by the
happily married couple with only their four children as cast; AJ (9), Brook (7), Ciara (4)
and Delaney(2).
Suzanne made a miniature
tree, which was composite against a long sot background, with a CU blue screened leaf.
"I was going to 3D
the leaf and animate it using Lightwave, but time beat us with other things in our
lives," says Adam.
Suzanne edited and
orchestrated the dynamic and powerful music in the film.
This is a great win for
the core Iconoclast team who have now scored two films in the top ten ranking's of competition,
with Adam Todd's "15" making the top ten in February. |
| 27 Feb 2007 Well done to the teams who have
worked their talent to the bone this month. Iconoclast has submitted FOUR movies
into Round #3 of FILMAKA under the theme "Mistaken Identity."
"CARDNAPPED"
written and directed by Suzanne Todd, is an extracted scene from her feature movie project
VENUS FACTOR.
"SAFE TRIP"
written by Angela Hernandez and directed by Adam and Angela, is a prequel episode to TRAFFICK (entered in Round
#1.) SAFE TRIP was supposed to be entered into Round #2 however due to Actors
becoming unavailable at the 11th hour the January shoot was postponed. Suzanne Todd
makes a rare appearance in the film as HELEN, Celina's mother.
"INFORM YOU"
is a sequel to TRAFFICK.
Written and Directed by Adam Todd, and shot on the same day as SAFE TRIP.
Special congratulations to Celina Vanderdrift who turned Lauren O'Hara (CELINA) into a
dead body, and to Celina for contorting herself into stomach turning limb positions and
laying flat at the bottom of a creek for an hour.
"W GEORGE:
TRACKING THE PSYCHOPATH" written and directed by Lily Iconoclast is the
second documentary episode following "W GEORGE: A WEAPON OF MASS
DISTRACTION" a series about the relationship between director ADAM TODD's and his
father.
Links to the new movies
will be available in a few days.
Shooting commences on the
Jury Entry as a result of ''15' winning last months round. An open cast
call for Extra's is under way. Adam would like around 100 people to attend the
shooting of the final scene which "has to be big, big big" he says. |
| 8 Feb 2007 Aussie Short Film '15 ranks
in the Top Ten!
Congratulations to the '15 team!
Announced on the FILMAKA
web site today, '15 came crashing into the top ten peer selected films.
"This is great news
for the team! Other than screening a few features at Cannes, we've never actually
really had peer selection before, " says Adam Todd, Director and writer of 15.
"I say Tropfest eat
your heart out! We've jumped the gun and started at the finishing line! " says
Adam. "We're already being judged and reviewed by some of the most acclaimed
and award winning filmmakers and Actors in the Hollywood A-List so it's pretty exciting!
The next part of the
process is to make Jury Entry Film which competes against the other filmmakers
successfully selected.
"We don't know the
details yet. So we're not sure if we have to make another film on the same theme or
we've got a broader scope, " said Adam. "But I can assure you we'll be trying to
find global appeal and creating something very exciting."
15 was one of two
Australian made films in the Competition. The other film "W George" was
made by Adam's wife Suzanne, her debut short film as Producer, Writer, Director and
Editor.

It's been a busy period at Iconoclast. New projects are developing or finding
pre-production status world wide. 2007 is going to be a hectic year with an even
bigger slate of projects set around the world in 2008.PROJECT FILMAKA
If you aren't already part of Iconoclasts "Project Filmaka" all year
series of productions, get in fast! Limited places are available and the exposure
that these projects will bring you world wide is unimaginable. It's also a great
opportunity to work regularly with the Iconoclast team, build up a diversity of showreel
material, and avoid being typecast! For more details search the GENERAL NEWS
announcements.
AUDITION
ANNOUNCEMENT
Iconoclast traditionally holds a week long audition period in July each year when
not in production. After a careful review of this practice and the fact that the
next few years are really building up, we've decided to establish a permanent Audition
Team and run three one day Auditions each year.
This is great news for
experienced and new talent. It's been a long wait for many people since the July
2004 Auditions to get a Headshot in the door, yet alone your body and skills!
The Auditions will be
held in March, July and November. They will be ONE DAY ONLY. Bookings will be
via the Iconoclast Web Site. Additional information can be found here.
We have also decided to
introduce a $10 Audition Booking Fee. $5 is refunded upon completion of your
Audition. We've done this because year after year, people book into slots that are
highly demanded and don't turn up. People miss out. It wasn't fair. The
fee is not refundable if you change your mind, do not attend or change your Audition
Session or date.
The $10 fee MUST be paid
prior to you being able to book into an Audition Session. You will receive a SINGLE
BOOKING credit which will enable you to book into a session time on any of the announced
dates. It can be paid by Direct Deposit, Paypal or Cash. |
