Caught in the Net Post Production Cast & Crew Production |
Date: Sat, 07 Jul 2001 00:35:16 +1000 From: Adam Todd Subject: [ Iconoclast - TJPS ] Welcome to Iconoclast - Caught in the Net - Aug/Sep 2001 Thank you all for responding to our Filmnet Ad. It's great to see so many people so eager and keen! If you aren't a going to be a part of the Iconoclast Production titled "Caught in the Net" can you please let me know so I can take you off this mail list. When we started this project, we felt it was going to be almost impossible to produce and make the reality it's now rapidly becoming. Our Goals are to tell the story about Adam and Suzanne Todd and a dramatic event in their life. If you happen to know any of the details, please don't say anything, keep the story secret and relish in the knowledge that the audience, that is the people you are working on this production to entertain and create emotion, will have a greater reaction and far more enjoy and remember the film if you don't say anything. Of course, the more we don't tell the story before release, the more people will want to know and the more overall promotion the film will receive. A little recommendation. If you haven't seen Pay It Forward (Released last year If I recall) please hire it on video and watch it. It's about a school boy given a challenge in his social studies class to change the world for the better. He comes up with the idea of doing an unconditional favour for each of three random people. In return they must do the same for three more people and so it goes. The story stars Helen Hunt as the Boys mother, I forget who played the boy, he was great. When you see it, think about what I've written above and think about the efforts many have put into the script and production. I leave the rest in your mind and hearts :) I'm not going to go into too much background and bore you to tears on this posting. I'd just like to make a few quick points and then each week I'll tell you a little more about us, the film and what's happening. You won't be getting e-mails every day. This list is merely to keep you up to date on production activities so you don't miss out. Just a few quick things. 1. Shooting will be Late August Early September. This could change at any time. Details will appear on the Icon Productions new web site in the 'tjps' section. 2. I'm a pretty arrogant Director! Some of you have called ma patient and intelligent and all kinds of wonderful things. If I haven't totally changed your mind by the end of filming then I've let my Directors Reputation fail me. 3. SPEAK UP. If you have ideas, suggestions or comments, please, I'm just a director with a vision. I need to hear your input. I might yell at you, I might reject you, I might think your off the planet, that's my personative as a Director. But I'll note your suggestion (or if you put it on paper for me I'll file it) and I might later return to it. You are allowed to argue with me. I love a good argument as you will learn from the script. But I won't think any less of you or hate you afterwards. 4. I probably don't need to say this, but if you are selected to work on this production, you are part of the whole team. If you arrive late, EVERYONE will be sitting around waiting for you. If you stuff up, everyone will laugh at you (out takes are permitted!), if you really stuff up, you'll probably be shot at dawn. This success of this film will be attributed to every single persons involved. The Failure will be attributed only to the Director - me. 5. This film will be entered in the Cannes Film Festival 2002 in the competition section. This means, yes. It is my First Feature film as Producer and Director. Yes, I only get ONE chance to win Cannes as a Feature Film First Time Director. The rules are, you only get one shot. As a Director I can enter in the non competition sections any time, but where is the first time prestige in that! Our (that means you and me) chances of winner are as good as anyone else, but I know the script is dynamic, powerful and emotional. What I don't know is if the Cast and Crew can take image in my mind and put it on film. Only you know that. 6. I'm really looking forward to working with everyone. It's exciting and overwhelming. Especially with the short production time frame. 7. Watch the web site. Check it EVERY day if you must. Do not miss out on updates and details. 8. I'm seeking sponsors to cover things like equipment, sets and props. This will be my primary activity over the coming two weeks, especially next week as I have to meet a Friday deadline for a Corporate possible sponsor. This will be announced when details are available. If you know anyone who can help, might like to offer resources or funding, please have them contact me and make sure you let me know so I can thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul later. Other details will be posted on the web site. Please do not share the address around unless you are part of the production. Currently you can access it without need of user name and password, but if I find it's being abused, I will add login requirements. Please telephone any time you wish. 02 8825 6111. We don't have voice mail or answer machines on this number for the simple reason if we're not here we don't want a zillion calls to return. I know that sounds silly in this day and age, but it's the best way to work. There is nothing worse than playing telephone tag with voice mail system in short time frames. you leave a message thinking someone will do something by a particular time and find out they didn't get the message until weeks later. The Web Address is http://iconoclast.inoz.com/tjps/ It's a very ROUGH page for now. [Ed: Not any more!] It's a list of Cast and Crew I can immediately think of filling. If I've left any roll out, let me know, it might be your role! If you think you can fill a role, let me know. Over next week, I'll add a registration page that you can fill in and select any of the roles you might like to apply for. Watch the Time Table on this page (or any new page as the site develops) like a hawk. Don't miss a date. You probably wont get a second chance. Remember I'm a really arrogant cold cruel and verbal Director! We will be holding Interviews for Crew and Auditions for Cast and Extras on July 29 in Sydney. The Venue is to be advised shortly. Feel free to come along and bid your best. If you know people who might like to experience the process, by all means invite them too! We need about 50-80 people for the "Audience" and to be honest - the more the better! Final Audience numbers will be announced once we have confirmed the Shooting Venue. Be aware that in 2002, we'll be producing a full re-enactment of the background story behind this script. That includes dozens of locations, car trips, and lots of other things. If you are a participant in this production you will be offered the chance to participate in the future production. We're expecting some kind of budget, so hopefully we'll all be paid something. After final selection of all people is completed, you'll be notified of a Financial/Commercial structure to be offered to you as a person involved in production. The offer is only valid upon your completion of the activities you have under taken. in short, we'll be establishing a company that will own the film itself and you will be a shareholder. Any royalties and monies received from the film will be shared through the share structure. Lots of if's but if we win Cannes and the film goes into distribution you won't be missing out at all. I've always worked this way and always look after those who give their best. Incidentally, my share in credits and the film is no more important or bigger than your own. From the Runners to the Produce (oh that's me too) the film is dependant on every last one of us. I deserve no more credit than you do for the success of the film. We are all entitled to an equal slice of the pizza! Ok enough. I've bored you. Thankfully that part is over. Again I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in the coming weeks. |
